History of the Chicago Bulls, 1984-2018

Chicago Bulls 1984-2018. This was the year the club drafted 3rd and signed a lanky 6’6” guard from North Carolina and handed him a #23 jersey. And Michael Jordan didn’t disappoint-ending the year 3rd in scoring and 4th in steals. The Bulls, on the other hand, were a team in transition. By April, the club had a new owner, a new GM, and were in the hunt for a new coach. On-court success came slowly (Bulls were not a .500+ club until 1987-88) and endured setbacks (Jordan’s foot injury in 1985), but this was the 1st of 14 straight years the Bulls entered the playoffs. From 1987-1990, the club drafted Scottie Pippen and Horace Grant, traded for Bill Cartwright, and named Phil Jackson as head coach. Stars that followed are many: pre-GM John Paxson, Dennis Rodman, Steve Kerr, Elton Brand, Ben Gordon, Kirk Hinrich, Luol Deng, Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, Jimmy Butler, and Nikola Mirotic
